What To DO
General Park Information

Bartholomew Park comprises 375 acres of vineyards, gardens, and forest. Explore scenic hiking trails, step back in time at the Haraszthy villa and museum, and enjoy a leisurely picnic surrounded by vineyard views. Whether you’re here for a taste of history or a sip of fine wine, a horseback ride or a scenic hike, Bartholomew Park offers areas that are friendly to both dogs and kids (please note the winery’s requirement that everyone in the tasting areas must be over 21), as well as Instagram-worthy backdrops and endless opportunities for an unforgettable escape into Sonoma’s rich heritage.

Please join us for a hike, a picnic, a ride — and wine from Bartholomew Estate Winery. All profits from the winery fund the park for your enjoyment.

HIKING
Trails

The park has extensive trails and walking paths that range from easy strolls to strenuous hikes. These are open to the public as weather and conditions permit. Trails may be closed without notice due to weather or maintenance needs.

PICNICKING
Areas

Picnic areas are available in three locations:

  • Behind the villa

(accessible from the villa parking lot to the left of the villa off Castle Road). An ADA-accessible picnic table and ramp are available here.

  • Antonia’s Picnic Grounds

located to the left of the winery building.

  • Around the Castle Lawn

which can best be accessed by parking in the lot on the right side of the entry road just as you pass through the main gate. Walk along the trail to the Castle Lawns.

WINE TASTING
and Experiences

While our wines have an exceptional purpose, they also have an exceptional taste. We offer relaxed and informal seated wine-tasting experiences, both inside and outside. Featuring wines from the estate vineyards, the beautiful gallery tasting room is a perfect place to sample the flavors of the property, or you may choose relax on the Oak Knoll and celebrate with friends. Our wines are available exclusively here, so be sure to take home a bottle or a case, and consider joining our wine club.

Remember, profits from the winery support the park.

Horseback
Riding

Guided horseback riding tours are available through Sonoma Valley Trail Rides. Thursdays–Monday: 11 am, 12:30 pm, 1:30 pm; times are subject to change due to weather or other considerations.

Guests enjoy a 45-minute trail ride through the vineyards with picturesque views of the estate. Your wrangler will highlight the history of the site and its importance in the history of California grape-growing and winemaking. Riders may either book a tasting following the ride or receive a bottle of wine to take home.

Private rides are available by special arrangement with Sonoma Valley Trail Rides. Wranglers will take many pictures and videos of your ride and provide those to you after the ride. The horses are gentle and suitable for every level of experience; beginners welcome!

EDUCATIONAL AND
Cultural Programs

As part of our mission to tell the story of the historic structures within the park, we collaborate with two other nonprofits, the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art and Music in Place. In Q1 of 2025, we hosted a mid-winter, 8-concert series, alternating between the museum and the Haraszthy villa. Due to the ongoing refurbishment of the museum and villa, most of our programs are on pause. We hope to resume them soon.
